Stars galore

With the list of celebrities arriving in Abu Dhabi getting forever longer we thought we’d take our hat off to the Emirate’s event organisers this week.

As we start a new month we can rely on FLASH Entertainment to keep the momentum going for 2011.

Following on from the success of their first series of Yas Island Show Weekends for 2011 that saw Eric Clapton, Tiesto, 30 Seconds to Mars and the legend Stevie Wonder take the stage, its just been announced that music fans can expect to see Shakira, Amr Diab and Snoop Dogg over the coming weeks.

Before we get revved up for the first concert on 29th April though there is plenty to get excited about in the capital this weekend. We’re looking forward to taking part in the Abu Dhabi Autism Awareness Walk on Thursday evening (7th). Registration begins at 6pm at the Corniche beach entrance (near Spinneys), with the walk beginning at 7pm.

As if you needed an excuse to get down to the Corniche this week with the arrival of the WOMAD festival. With workshops, cooking demonstrations from a host of international stars and plenty of live entertainment on offer, whether you head down on Thursday for Paloma Faith, Friday for Jimmy Cliff or Saturday for Goran Bregovic, this promises to be a festival to remember.

Fancy getting the adrenaline pumping? Then head down to Yas Marina Circuit for the Local Champions on Friday. Or if this is all too exhausting, then why not get yourself a ticket for Jazz Under the Stars at Hiltonia Beach Garden on Saturday (9th).

Have a great weekend everyone!
