Driving in to work this morning, I heard the radio weather gal say that it’s hotting up this week, hitting 27?C on the coast. Yes the sandstorms have finally blown away and it’s time to crack out the swimsuits and board shorts and hit the beach!
So where can you spend the day outdoors this week? Well, why not head down to the Big BBQ at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club? It’s a free event and there’ll be plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained while you lie back and enjoy the sunshine. But make sure you RSVP.
If you’re looking for something a bit more action packed then Yas Marina Circuit is hosting the Formula Drift this weekend. Gates open on Friday at 4.30pm with the main event revving into action at 7.30pm.And the entertainment is not just limited to the track. There will also be breakdancers, DJs, video games and graffiti artists.
Don’t fancy trekking out to Yas Island? Then the Abu Dhabi Sailing Club will host The National Abu Dhabi Laser Regatta on Friday and Saturday (25th-26th Feb) at the newly completed Watersports Centre of The Club at Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi.
There will be between six and eight races over the two days, with the winners receiving prizes from Ian Walker, the skipper of the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team!
Personally, I’m looking forward getting out for a long walk along Abu Dhabi Corniche. After nursing a knee injury for the past three months, I’ve got to get in shape to begin my New You programme with Haddins Fitness that starts this month … wish me luck!
