Looking forward to …

We’re taking a leaf out of our Young Writer, Amna Siddiqui’s book this week. She kindly wrote in with a column outlining eleven things she was looking forward to this year.

lookingforward

We had to think long and hard about this, but we’ve come up with our own list, which we hope will get you excited about what’s coming up over the next few of weeks.

First off, this weekend don’t miss Toast SANZA this Friday at the Abu Dhabi City Golf Club and the first round of the Pro Drag Racing Series at Yas Marina Circuit, this Friday and Saturday.

For something more high-brow head to Emirates Palace Auditorium on Friday at 8pm to see composer and pianist Daniel Barenboim conduct Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.5 in E minor with the world-acclaimed Berlin Staatskapelle orchestra. Or on Saturday 29th January join him at 11am for The Young People’s Concert as he explains and conducts Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4.

Then on Sunday it’s time to head to Emirates Palace for the Wasps vs Harlequins game.

Next week is even busier, with the start of Abu Dhabi Gourmet, the Al Ain Aerobatics Show and the Bride Show. Celebrity chefs will be creating some mouth-watering meals at the city’s best hotels from 2nd to 17th February, while the world’s most talented aerobatic pilots will be wowing the crowds at Al Ain International Airport from 2nd February.

Hotels around the city will also be celebrating Chinese New Year from 1st February, so check this week’s Diary to make sure you don’t miss these colourful celebrations. Also on 1st February is the next Laughter Factory at Crowne Plaza on Yas Island – always a great night out, full of blue humour.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something to keep the kids occupied then don’t miss the Ben 10 Live – Power of Omnitrix at Abu Dhabi Theater from 3rd February.

Phew, that’s ten! Our last one is a little more personal. On 3rd February I start my three-month-long Haddins Fitness programme. Although I am looking forward to it, I am trying to reverse a decade’s worth of bad habits so I’m going to need all the encouragement I can get. Check our weekly fitness updates for the latest from myself, Laura and Jon, and join in if you can; we’ll all need to lose a few pounds once Gourmet Abu Dhabi is over!
