Bursting at the seams

OK, now you’ve finally been able to tear yourself away from our amazing front cover – designed exclusively for Abu Dhabi Week by graffiti legend Inkie – we’re pleased to tell you that there’s yet more Inkie illustrations, plus a Q&A with the man himself. Catch this illustrative genius live, in action, this weekend at the FLASH Forum, Yas Island (Saturday), where he’ll be painting a 60-metre wall along with a troop of international and local artists.

Also, don’t miss our 1-on-1 chat with NBA superstar Hakeem ‘The Dream’ Olujawon (page 7). He reveals some of the ball handling secrets that secured him a place in the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History, and tells us what he’ll be doing in Abu Dhabi next weekend at the NBA Jam Fest on Yas Island (2nd-4th December).

If you’re sick of the sight of Yas Island, then it’s your last chance to lap up a spot of culture (and some delicious dates) at the Fourth International Date Palm Festival, taking place at ADNEC until Saturday. With a Kids Zone, Date Tree Climbing and a Date Theatre the little ones will be amused, while bigger kids can enjoy stuffing their faces with lots of yummy dates while they visit the festival’s photography gallery.

There’s also a chance to win an amazing trip to Tokyo in this week’s issue, courtesy of Etihad Airways. Spend three nights in this electrifying city at the ANA InterContinental Tokyo and sample the finest sushi, shopping and nightlife this Asian gem has to offer.

This is alongside our National Day Custom Car Competition, which will see one lucky winner enjoy a track day as Yas Racing School behind the wheel of an Aston Martin GT4!

And our usual competitions, of course – this week win: lunch for two at Porto Bello, ice rink and bowling vouchers for Zayed Sports City and a Thai Herbal massage at Yengi Nails and Day Spa.

On that note may we take this opportunity to thank you for supporting us for the past two years – yes, this is our second anniversary!
