Bigger and better

If you thought last year’s Formula 1 season was exciting, then hold on to your hats for the closing race this weekend at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. Not one, not two, but four drivers are going to be battling it out for the championship.

Vettel, Alonso, Webber and Hamilton won’t be the only big names wowing the crowds on Yas Island this weekend though, with Kanye West, Prince, Linkin Park, Gabrielle, Sugababes, Corinne Bailey Rae, Basement Jaxx, Sean Paul and Ferry Corsten all confirmed to perform over the next four days. Phew!

There will certainly be some sleepy people heading back to work on Monday morning. Well, there would be if it wasn’t time for Eid-al-Adha!

With a blissful four days of holiday confirmed for the public sector and Abu Dhabi’s schools, and three days of holiday on the cards for the private sector, no-one has an excuse for avoiding the F1 celebrations this weekend.

If you’re in Abu Dhabi and don’t have a Formula 1 ticket, there are still plenty of places to watch the action. All races are being shown at the F1 FanZone down on the Corniche, and various hotels around the city are clearing their usual schedules to provide a wealth of entertainment over the weekend; from intimate screenings to F1-themed brunches and special club nights, it’s all about the F1.

We’ll be reporting live from the circuit, the post-race concerts, and sneaking behind the scenes at Cipriani and Amber Lounge, so keep an eye on AbuDhabiWeek.ae and follow us on twitter.com/AbuDhabiWeek.
If we’re still alive after four days of non-stop parties, we’ll see you next week.

Happy Formula 1, Abu Dhabi, and have a great Eid-al-Adha!
