The stage is set

We nearly squeaked out loud with excitement at this week’s Yasalam press conference when it was announced that pop legend Prince would be performing at the Formula 1 after-race concerts on Yas Island.

thestage

Fans of the pint-sized prima donna from a young age, we immediately began humming through the long list of songs we’ll be hoping to hear when he finally takes to the stage on 14th November – Diamonds and Pearls, Kiss, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, Purple Rain and Little Red Corvette to name a few (we could be here all day).

This exciting piece of news was swiftly followed by a long list of incredible acts who will be joining the world’s most attractive vegetarian (Prince came top of a PETA poll in 2006) on stage in Abu Dhabi throughout the month of November.

Linkin Park we already knew, but joining these rockers on the main stage will be rap superstar Kanye West, while down at Beats on the Beach Kelis, Fabolous, Sean Paul and Nancy Ajram will be building up the crowd.

There are a few interesting choices thrown into the mix this year, including temperamental pop princess Sophie Ellis Bexter and a band called Chipmunk (who we’re secretly hoping are called Alvin and Theodore), but ‘eclectic’ was the word FLASH Entertainment CEO, John Lickrish used to describe the line up, so we’re confident that we can expect a great show.

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait for November for the excitement to start building, as FLASH will be organising community events across Abu Dhabi from mid-October when it begins its Mastering Motorsport sessions at Yas Marina Circuit.

Meanwhile, next door at Ferrari World fans will be queuing for tickets to the grand opening from 5pm on the 27th October. OK, so it’s only opening a day earlier than expected, but we’re still getting very excited.

Have your say
