As Abu Dhabi gears up to become a regional entertainment destination, is the local population ready to have some serious fun?
With less than 50 days to go until the soft opening of the world’s biggest indoor theme park on Yas Island (Ferrari World, as if you didn’t know), and with the newly renovated Hili Fun City opening its gates to visitors this weekend, the question of how to keep the kids amused on the weekend is well and truly answered.
For something old, and new, Hili Fun City is the answer. Something of an institution in Al Ain since its opening in 1985, this much loved fun park has has a well deserved facelift, courtesy of TDIC, and is now well on its way to regaining its former glory.
A total of seven brand spanking new rides are just waiting to be enjoyed, and more are promised in phase two of the renovations, set to open in 2014. So watch this space.
Meanwhile on Yas Island, the finishing touches are still being made to the mega structure that is Ferrari World.
With ‘the fastest rollercoaster’, ‘the highest freefall’ and more Ferrari memorabilia than you could shake a prancing horse at, fans of the motoring legend the world over are already queing up to buy their tickets.
We’ll certainly be one of the first in line when the gates open.
