Summer fun

As the summer sun comes out and Abu Dhabi starts to really heat up, it seems as though the capital’s sporting calendar is slowly grinding to a standstill.

The UAE football league and the Arabian Gulf rugby premiership have been dormant for weeks, it’s too hot for tennis, too humid for golf and even Team Abu Dhabi’s triathletes have left in search of cooler climes to compete in Europe.

Which is why Abu Dhabi Week is so excited about the ‘Summer Olympics’ coming soon to the Sheraton Abu Dhabi. Along with ventures like Duplays and the Dome, it is community events such as this that we really love to get behind. And so should you – what better way to shake off the summer malaise and lose that lethargy than getting active and making some new friends?

Whether you fancy strutting your stuff on the golden sands in the beach soccer and volleyball competitions, dusting off those speedos for some serious swimming action or prefer the air-conditioned sanctuary of the squash and table-tennis tournaments, there really is something for everybody here.

So don’t let the summer slowdown slow you down, why not make the effort and fly the flag for Abu Dhabi at our very own Summer Olympics.

Abu Dhabi Week is going to be there – we hope to see you there too.

Have your say
