The city that never stops

Sometimes putting together a weekly magazine feels a little like we’re playing an extra alongside Bill Murray in the film Groundhog Day.

There’s definitely the odd case of déjà vu; front cover? Check. Top news stories? Check. Lots of great competitions? Triple check.

Finding the content for Abu Dhabi Week however is certainly never repetitive. New York may steal the title for ‘the city that never sleeps’ but we’re starting to get the impression that Abu Dhabi may be winning the stakes for the title ‘the city that never stops’.

Take this week for example. The seventh annual Abu Dhabi Festival returns with another ever-impressive line up of international talent, ready to capture the capital with a host of classical performances. Meanwhile, the first Abu Dhabi International Sculpture Symposium continues, showcasing yet more international talent.

Proving further that Abu Dhabi has no intention of stopping any time soon, the announcement that the capital has won the rights to host a stopover in the next Volvo Ocean Race adds another date to an already blossoming sports calendar.

And of course, the year’s only just heading towards the end of the first quarter. Drag racing, the Red Bull Air Race, WOMAD Abu Dhabi and plenty more are just around the corner. While getting Abu Dhabi Week out into the capital may be a regular part the city’s happening – there’s certainly no chance that we’ll be short on new stories, features and more to keep every issue fresh and full of Abu Dhabi’s expanding feats. We hope you enjoy another packed issue.
