Red Bull Car Park Drift returns to the Middle East

Regional qualifiers to take place in Abu Dhabi starting at 7pm on 17th February in the Beach Car Park on the Corniche

RedBull

Following tremendous success over the past two years, the Red Bull Car Park Drift has become a highly anticipated yearly event in most Middle Eastern countries. Once again this year, drifting shows and exhilarating performances will burn rubber in the Beach Car Park on the Corniche, opening a whole new season of heightened challenges, to conclude with an outstanding finale in Lebanon.

Sponsored by Chevrolet, the competition will this year be visiting Kuwait, UAE, KSA, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Bahrain and Lebanon, providing motorsport lovers in addition to the thrilling show performances, a chance to experience high speed and utmost suspense.

Rally and Hill Climbing champion and Red Bull driver, Abdo Feghali will be evaluating the drivers’ performances along with a panel of esteemed judges. The evaluation will mainly assess the drift shows presented by the drivers in their modified cars, through the use of handbrakes and outstanding skills to take on turns in the most dazzling ways. In addition, judges will consider the engines’ roars and the external look of the car, the smoke produced by the friction of the tyres and finally the audience’s excitement and cheers for each performance.

Red Bull Car Park Drift was launched in Lebanon five years back; two years later, it became a regional competition. Before gaining international fame and exposure, the concept of drifting started in Japan in the 1970s based on the idea of competing in a parking lot.
