All decked out with a new Asian menu

alldecked01The InterContinental’s Yacht Club has recently unveiled a brand new Asian tapas menu – and its introduction has made the outlet definitely stand out from the crowd.

Japanese cuisine specialist chef Dexter Saludar and his team have drawn inspiration from Hanoi, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Bangkok to create the menu.

Diners can choose from cold tapas such as spicy tuna tartare or Wagyu tataki, hot tapas like spicy battered soft shell crab or roasted duck quesadillas with jalapeno guacamole, a whole range of sushi options, roba grills and exotic desserts. We opted for the Hanoi rolls to start.

The rolls were served in what looked like a miniature goldfish bowl. Our waiter lifted off the top covering and a cloud of smoke escaped along with an almost nutty aroma. The taste of the smoked Baltic salmon, sesame and aka miso dressing was as unusual as the presentation and equally impressive.

Next up was the sunrise rolls; parcels of cream cheese, smoked salmon, tempura batter, sushi rice with chili garlic sauce and spicy mayonnaise. The restaurant is onto a winner with this dish and have perfected the combination of creamy cheese and salmon, mixed with a hint of garlic and encased in light crispy tempura shell.

After that we sampled the coconut shrimp with Thai peanut sauce and peanut butter ash, the bamboo steamed vegetable dumplings with kimchi, and the chicken roba. While the sunshine rolls were a firm favourite, the other dishes were incredible.

The Yacht Club has always been a popular, stylish venue and now it’s just got even better.

Spaccanapoli

top3bThe name is quite a mouthful and so is the pizza at this restaurant in the Crown Plaza Abu Dhabi, Hamdan Street. Measuring in at one metre, this cheese-lovers dream requires a custom-made stand to support its size. It’s perfect for sharing because you can order
mixed toppings and there’s more than enough to go around.
