The capital’s wildlife island is set to boost travel incentive to the emirate following a recent fact-finding visit by tour operators looking to tap into Al Gharbia’s tourism potential.

A delegation of 12 UAE tour and cruise operators and destination management companies visited Sir Bani Yas Island, the former private nature reserve of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family, which is now home to the Arabian Wildlife Park.

The operators claim the island’s nature, culture and adventure experiences could be used to help increase visitors’ length-of-stay when traveling to Abu Dhabi.

Jyoti Panchmatia, general manager of TUI Group’s Dubai-based Travco, said: “Much of our European clientele perceive Abu Dhabi exclusively as a winter sun destination with passengers looking for a beach-based holiday. I will present Sir Bani Yas Island as an extension to Abu Dhabi and Dubai visits, and the breadth and diversity of the island’s offering will encourage longer stays.”

Sir Bani Yas Island is currently home to three five-star resorts managed by Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, offering luxury accommodation, wildlife tours, leisure activities and conference facilities.
