Operation Smile aiming to get student help from new network

MOROCCO Operation Smile 2006

Students in the capital will be able to help underprivileged children around the world – one smile at a time – thanks to the launch of a new initiative next month from international charity Operation Smile.

The medical charity, which provides free corrective surgery to children born with cleft lip and cleft palate, developed the Student Network in order to engage UAE youth with charity. Designed to be run by students, the initiative will be launched on 3rd November at The Club. The commencement of the special network in Abu Dhabi will allow participants to help collaborate on fundraising and awareness projects benefiting kids around the world.

Members of the Student Network committee will present to their fellows on 3rd November from 4pm, providing advice and encouragement for their peers to join them in their efforts to raise awareness and funds for Operation Smile. The event is open to all students, parents and teachers interested in learning about the network and how they can get involved.

“Recruiting students across the UAE will help both the network and the students develop and inevitably achieve the ultimate goal: transforming lives across the globe, including in the UAE itself” says Haneen Al-Noman, 17, newly elected president of the Student Network.
