It’s a wrap!
When we heard of the Universal Contour Wrap’s extravagant claims of losing up to six inches without lifting a barbell, we were skeptical. Intrigued and eager to shift a bit of jiggle, we headed to Just Joy Beauty Salon to get the skinny…
After getting detailed measurements of ourselves pre-wrap, our lovely therapist Omaima pulls out steaming rolls of specially clay soaked bandages. Wrapping each limb up tightly, she explains the mineral rich clay will kick start the detoxification process.
Mummified from head to toe, we put on a special thermal suit before being tucked into a heat reflective blanket and left to simmer. Omaima takes care to check if we’re too toasty or feeling claustrophobic.
90 minutes later we are unwrapped to discover our skin is smoother, tighter and a little more svelte. We’re told a total of six to twelve treatments can provide up to six inches of weight loss that should last for 30 days.
When we get home we pull on our snuggest jeans to discover they glide over
our thighs and button with much less effort than usually required. Success!

Turn heads
If you don’t have time to drive around the city from place to place, then Curls & Colors is the perfect spot to sort out all your beauty needs. They offer beauty treatments including facials, waxing, manicures, pedicures, in addition to hair up do’s, styling and treatments, and also sell a variety of beauty products. The salon is located in Al Maqtaa Village next to twofour54 and Brighton College.
In an effort to revive our limp locks we asked for a condition treatment. Our stylist recommended the Brasil Cacau Hydrating Hair Complex Masque. The product contains keratin to smooth hair and reduce frizz.
Firstly our hairdresser applied anti-frizz shampoo, before gently massaging the conditioning product through our hair. We sat under the dryer for 15 minutes, while the mask took effect and used this time to flick through magazines and catch up on the latest celebrity gossip, and check out the décor – Curls & Colors has a modern funky feel, and is decorated in white, red and black throughout.
Next it was time for a rinse and blow dry. We were more than impressed with the final result – soft, shiny, tangle-free hair.
Wanting our nails to look as polished as our hair, we treated ourselves to a manicure and pedicure. We loved the look of Shellac’s new summer range – Waterpark blue and Grape Gum purple polish, but in the end went for natural French for a sophisticated look.

‘Lipo’ service
The party is tomorrow night but that dress is more than a little snug. In search of a quick fix? We heard good things about the Lipoglaze non-invasive liposuction treatment, available at Beauty Dazzle Ladies Salon, and went along to test the ice.
We got comfortable on the treatment bed while our therapist explained how Lipoglazes works. Basically a vacuum machine which has a rectangular shaped head on the end gently pulls a section of your tummy inside and cools it down.
During the treatment our tummy felt warm during the first few minutes and then freezing cold. Our therapist explained that this was the ‘cryotherapy’ or ‘ice therapy,’ taking effect to freeze and kill our fat cells.
Afterwards our tummy seemed flatter and slightly red. The redness soon disappeared and our skin returned to its normal temperature.
