World-class flowboarders from across the globe travelled to Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi at the weekend to take part in the sixth Annual Oakley Go Pro World Flowboarding Championships.

Boasting the largest field ever in the history of the sport, it was Team UAE who beat off competition from Singapore, Spain and Chile to take third place. Team USA rode the wave of success to be crowned champions, beating off stiff competition from South Africa who took home the silver medal.

Mike Oswald, general manager, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, said: “This year’s World Flowboarding Championships have been phenomenal and it’s been truly exciting to welcome world-class talents to participate on the FlowBarrel 10 at Yas Waterworld – especially since flowboarding is so new to the region. We’re honored to have hosted such an important competition and I’d like to say a huge congratulations to Team UAE, who took home the bronze medal for the region.”

Heading Team UAE, Clayton Barker, placed first in the Men’s Strapless Stand-up Division, while UAE based, Max Sokolov came second in the Strapped Stand-up Division. Emirati national Mohammed Darwish came in fourth place in the Pro Bodyboard Prone division.
