A bit of pocket change could provide vital humanitarian aid if you buy a snack from one of the capital’s new vending machines.

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality along with the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has begun installing self-service machines in parks across the city following suggestions from park visitors. Proceeds from the machines will be donated to the UAE RCA to help with the organisation’s commendable national and humanitarian efforts.

“Work is up and running to cover all parks of Abu Dhabi city in phases, where the first and second phases of the project have already been completed, covering 15 parks,” said Abdulla Nasser Al Junaibi, director of community services at Abu Dhabi City Municipality. “Work is underway in the third phase of the project, which will cover 15 other parks.”

The self-service machines sell snacks and beverages and stocks will be replenished on a regular basis by the UAE RCA and municipality inspectors.

“The move is also a testament to the Municipality’s social responsibility in supporting this national organisation which is playing a leading role in humanitarian, volunteer and philanthropic activities in the UAE and across the globe,” said Al Junaibi.
