We asked her what five things she likes best about the city and here’s what she had to say.
Weather
Coming from the wet and cold of northern England, it is no real surprise that one of the reasons I moved was for the glorious weather. I love the fact the temperature is cranking up – as long as I am not too far from the pool or an air-conditioned room!
The Beach
There is nothing better for shaking the working week off than relaxing at the beach. The Corniche beach is clean, very good value and the attendants are extremely helpful. You can spend the whole day there as there is a good variety of refreshment stands to keep you feeling hydrated and full.
Social network
Moving to anywhere new, let alone several thousand miles away, and making new friends is always a daunting prospect. I was surprised at how easy it actually was to make new friends. In my experience, people are always happy to let you tag along and introduce you to different groups of people. I found my feet very quickly in Abu Dhabi and have formed some great friendships.
Food and drink
Abu Dhabi is well known for its host of fabulous restaurants offering cuisine from around the world. Every day you can experience taste sensations from different corners of the Earth. Warning! Good food = expanding waistline!
Never being bored
I love the fact that on any day of the week I can find something to entertain me whether it’s testing my knowledge in the Heroes quiz, dancing the night away, enjoying a live concert at the du Arena, observing a top sporting event like the Formula One or just enjoying a get together with friends, there is always somewhere to go and something to do.
