UAE provides lifeline for Palestinian flood victims

The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has begun to distribute essential supplies to needy Palestinian families.

Baskets filled with AED 2 million worth of supplies will be allocated to residents affected by the recent floods that swept through the country. Severe flooding in December 2013 destroyed thousands of homes and left many without shelter, electricity or fuel.

Each basket, worth AED 440, contains vital food supplies as well as school bags and blankets. An estimated five thousand Palestinian families are thought to benefit from the RCA’s aid.

Emad Abu Laban, director of Red Crescent Authority and Dr Zakari al-Agha, a member of executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and head of the organisation’s Refugee Department both expressed their gratitude to the UAE RCA for the vital humanitarian relief and continuous support.
