A slew of A-list actors and actresses make up the cast of the third Night at the Museum sequel.
This American comedy sees the star attractions of New York’s Museum of Natural History spring to life every night from dusk to dawn. What’s typically a hushed museum becomes a playground for dinosaurs and Neanderthals, explorers, conquerors and even a capuchin monkey.
In the third instalment, Larry Daley (Stiller) learns that the magic powers of the tablet of Ahkmenrah that brought his museum mates to life is running out. Larry has just one night to save his friends by uniting a string of famous historical figures.
He heads to The British Museum in London where he teams up with former US President Theodore Roosevelt (Williams), cowboy Jedadiah Smith (Wilson), Octavius (Steve Coogan), the native Indian interpreter for the Lewis and Clark Expedition Sacagawea (Mizuo Peck) and a new Neanderthal called Laa (Stiller). Together the motley crew fight to save the magic before it’s lost forever.
While the list of historical names is impressive, a history lesson this film is not. Nor is it full of surprising elements and dramatic plot twists. But Night at the Museum is a fun family film that’s perfect for the holiday season.
The American comedy also stars funny girl Rebel Wilson as a British Museum security guard, Ricky Gervais as the curator of the Museum of Natural History, Dan Stevens as Sir Lancelot, Ben Kingsley as Ahkmenrah’s father, Merenkahre, and Dick Van Dyke as former guard Cecil Fredericks.
Night at the Museum: “Secret of the Tomb” hits screens Thursday 18th December.
