The best of British

The recently launched ‘At the Table!’ brunch at Rhodes 44, overseen by British chef Gary Rhodes, is looking to raise the bar even further for the city’s brunchers with a fabulous selection of dishes served family-style at the table.

There’s welcoming bubbly on arrival and a choice of dining in the sophisticated main room or outside on the terrace. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and professional and enjoy talking you through the concept and the delights awaiting you.

There’s a fresh seafood bar to help whet your appetite with a delectable selection of prawns, crab, fish and mussels waiting to be savoured and some excellent drinks on offer.

Where Rhodes 44 differentiates itself, is that four starters are served to you and your guests at your table at the same time to then be followed by four mains selected for you.

We started with new potato, quail eggs and chive salad, another dish made up of English goat’s cheese and melon, perfectly cooked grilled mushroom sticks and the stand-out starter of corned beef, potato and onion hash cakes. All were perfectly presented and tasted superb.

bestof02Our mains included a smoked haddock and baby leek stew; paella with savoury lamb meatballs, rotisserie roast chicken and a dish of sweet peas, broad beans, onions and soft hen’s egg.

There’s a mountain of excellent food to devour and you won’t be disappointed with the choices presented to you from the tailor-made menu.

If you can save yourself for dessert, do so as banoffee cheesecake, apple and blackberry crumble and Eton Mess all demand sampling.

Cheese lovers will be delighted with the 20 choices on offer to finish their meal.
A great brunch for family or friends and one that really shouldn’t be missed.
