Novak Djokovic made tennis history in Abu Dhabi by becoming the first player to win three Mubadala World Tennis Championship titles, the Serbian seeing off Spain’s David Ferrer 7-5, 6-2 at Zayed Sports City.
Two matches on Saturday rounded out a sensational weekend of exceptional tennis which saw six of the world’s top ten players compete for the coveted Mubadala World Tennis Championship title in front of capacity crowds.
Speaking after his victory in the UAE capital, Djokovic said: “I feel good here, I feel at home, the people in Abu Dhabi welcome me and support me. I just enjoy it, it’s a great energy. They love tennis here, they love sport and for me it’s a pleasure to come and play.”
