SchoolteacheR ZACK Bajric was celebrating this week after teaching his rivals a lesson on the basketball court.
The 30-year-old Canadian-Serbian won the Abu Dhabi round of the ‘King Of The Rock’ one-on-one basketball competition, beating 63 other players to secure a place in the UAE final, which will take place in Dubai on 27th June.
Now the former professional basketball player will battle it out on the court once more with the winner going on to represent the UAE at the grand final, which will be held on Alcatraz – nicknamed The Rock – the infamous island prison facility in San Francisco Bay, in America.
Bajric will be facing off against the top three players from Sharjah and Dubai, along with 23 wildcards on 27th June but is looking forward to the challenge.
“King of the Rock is a very difficult competition mainly because you have to play over five matches in one day,” said Bajric.
“It felt really great to be named as the best basketball player in Abu Dhabi and I am proud to represent the capital in Dubai and hopefully go on to San Francisco.”
