World No.1 Novak Djokovic, will return to the capital for the third year running at this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

The annual tournament, which sees six of the world’s top players battle it out across three days at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex at Zayed Sports City, has been confirmed for a sixth year and will take place from 26th to 28th of December.

Making his debut in Abu Dhabi in 2011, Djokovic has never lost a match at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.  Across his tournament career, he has seen off stiff competition from some of the world’s best including world No.3 Roger Federer, and world No.4 David Ferrer. Other tournament regulars include world No.2 and current US Open champion, Andy Murray, and eight-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal.

For the past two years, Djokovic has gone on from his victory in Abu Dhabi to win the Australian Open. Speaking at Wimbledon, Djokovic said: “I’m really excited to be coming back to Abu Dhabi this year and it was an easy decision for me to make. The Mubadala World Tennis Championship is proving to be a great way to kick-start my season, and gives me the chance to get warm-weather play in against some of the best guys in tennis ahead of the Australian Open. I’ll be looking to get off to a winning start again in Abu Dhabi later this year. ”

The unique combination of a ‘winner takes all’ prize of $250,000, the world’s best players and a championship format that from day one is the equivalent of a Grand Slam quarter-final, guarantees explosive performances and attacking tennis with two matches each day to thrill crowds on centre court.

Tickets for the 2013 Mubadala World Tennis Championship are on sale from www.ticketmaster.ae with prices starting from AED 50 for general admission. All tickets sold before September will be entered into a draw to win a VIP tournament experience including the chance to meet Djokovic at the Official Players’ Reception and an overnight stay at the 5-star Yas Viceroy Hotel.
