Their names live in legend. And some of those names from the great American West are to create fresh history in the UAE when representatives of the most famous Native American tribes come to this year’s Summer in Abu Dhabi.

The Native Nations Dance Theater (NNDT), which represents 12 national American Indian tribes, is making its first appearance

in the Middle East and will be a headline attraction at the festival’s Cultural Island.

Those taking part include descendants of some of the most famous Native Americans, including legendary Sioux chief Sitting Bull –famed for masterminding General Custer’s defeat at the Battle of Little Big Horn.

NNDT is a non-profit organisation that tours the world teaching the history, culture and dance of the American Indian nation.

“This troupe promises to be a fantastic cultural experience for young and old alike,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Section Head, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA). “Delwin has performed at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world including the Smithsonian Discovery Theatre, the National Museum of the American Indian, and on Broadway.

“Summer in Abu Dhabi visitors will be able to engage with one of the most ancient cultures and it will be a great opportunity for youngsters to learn while being entertained.”
