Young riders are getting lessons on the importance of road safety in Al Ain.

As part of the ‘Beware of Motorbike Dangers’ campaign recently launched by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate a special traffic awareness village was built in the Al Bada region.

Focusing particularly on young drivers, who form the majority of motorbike riders, the campaign aims at educating the public about the importance of following traffic laws and preventing accidents.

First Lieutenant Nasser Khalifa Al Shamesi, acting public relations branch manager at Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section and Village Supervisor, added that a mobile field unit would contact quad bike drivers in areas where they go riding in Al Ain. The unit aims to raise traffic awareness for quad and motorbike riders by providing brochures and explaining safety requirements to protect riders from accidents.

The village has so far received 4,000 visitors in the first two weeks of its run. Activities will be extended until the end of next week and will include lectures geared to students on safety and security while on a bike.

The initiative was organised in cooperation with the Al Ain Civil Defense Department, the Al Ain Emergency and Public Safety Department, and the Department of Community Police.
