ABU DHABI Police has launched the National Ambulance Project in order to serve residents in remote areas of the Northern Emirates.

The project was initiated following a request by HH President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to look into a complaint regarding the time it takes emergency services to reach remote areas of the country.

Following the complaint in mid-2013, the UAE partnered with Harvard University to establish an emergency academy to train local staff to be well equipped in the necessary skills.

As part of the project, eight main locations and 22 sub-locations have been established throughout the Northern Emirates. The 24/7 outlets are distributed across Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Alongside President Sheikh Khalifa, Lt General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of interior, inaugurated the project on Monday 24th February, inspecting the medical equipment and ambulances at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.

“Saving the lives of people is a non-negotiable, sacred duty,” said Sheikh Saif. “The president of the UAE is very keen to provide all the requirements in order to provide ambulance services to all regions of the country based on international standards, and deliver these services with speed and efficiency.”
