funnywithfeelingFollowing the success of the 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, Apatow is back in the director’s chair for another surefire hit comedy. Sandler fares well as the leading funny man, and this time it’s not all crude comments and bad timing.

George (Sandler) is a successful though self-involved stand-up comedian who is the last to laugh at the discovery of an incurable blood disorder. With less than a year to live, suddenly George’s life doesn’t seem too funny.

While performing one night, George notices Ira (Rogen), a struggling stand-up who can’t work out his stage persona. George takes Ira under his wing and the two become close friends. While George coaches Ira on how to win the audience from the stage, Ira helps George find perspective and closure in his life as his time runs out – or so he thinks ...

With love interests, humour and matters of life and death, it’s an unusual mix from both the leading actor as well as the director – but it’s pulled together well with an original tale and some good stand-up gags.
