Dir. Peter Jackson, starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Richard Armitage
Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins (Freeman) travels to Lonely Mountain accompanied by wizard Gandalf the Grey (McKellan) and 13 dwarves in search of a treasure stolen from them by the nasty dragon Smaug, in this first film of a trilogy based on JRR Tolkien’s iconic book.
The adventurers must overcome a number of life threatening obstacles in the form of deadly wargs, goblins, orcs, shape shifters, sorcerers and not forgetting the giant spiders. Bearing in mind this film was shot in 48-frames-per-second the action packed scenes will have you hiding behind your bucket of popcorn, as those ghoulish goblins genuinely seem much too close for comfort.
Fans of the Lord of the Rings series will enjoy stepping back in time to see how it all began.
