Etihad Airways marked the UAE’s 42nd National Day by making a donation to Al Modheef Centre for elderly people with special needs.

Senior staff and volunteers from the UAE’s flag carrier visited the centre to
donate care packages made up of blankets and electronic equipment.

The centre, which was established as part of the Zayed Higher Organisation
for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, offers a home to 70 elderly patients suffering from severe physical and mental disabilities.

The donation was made to mark the UAE’s recent anniversary celebrations, and  Khaled Al Mehairbi, Etihad Airways’ senior vice president of government and aero political affairs explained the leading airline “chose to pay special tribute to the elderly patients with special needs and include them in the festivities”.

Meanwhile, the national airline of the UAE, which began operations in 2003, also  announced major expansion plans to boost routes in India. The approval of a 24 percent investment in the country’s Jet Airways means the introduction of additional flights and larger aircrafts on existing routes between major destinations in the country.
