This weekend will see Carlton Football Club, one of Australia’s most famous sporting teams, touch down in the capital to host a free community training event at Emirates Palace
Visiting Abu Dhabi for a week-long pre-season training camp in the week prior to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Carlton will also use their first visit to the UAE to spend time introducing the concepts of Australia Football League to the city’s residents.
“We are very privileged to be able to share our knowledge, skills and coaching techniques to not only help develop the AFL in Abu Dhabi, but also the UAE’s emerging reputation in world sport,” said Brett Ratten, former premiership player and current Carlton senior coach.
“There is a lot of interest in our trip from our members and supporters back in Australia, so we look forward to experiencing all the gifts the UAE has to offer and promoting them back in Australia.”
Staged at the ovals at Emirates Palace tomorrow (4th November), the players will be split into small groups for the practical sessions with approximately 300 children expected to register. Participation is free, with registration from 9.30am on the day, limited to the first 300 children. Entrance is via the Gate 3 car park at Emirates Palace.
