Abu Dhabi Golf Club revamps Garden Course

Abu Dhabi Golf Club launched its new floodlight Night Golf on the old Garden Course (Holes 19 to 27) this summer. The golf course is illuminated by Musco Lighting with 65 light poles that contain 191 light fittings, which in turn produces maximum light coverage and excellent conditions for the golfing experience on every hole

In addition, course superintendent Andrew Whittaker, along with the input of Course Designer Peter Harradine and advice from the Troon Agronomy team, has undertaken the renovations of all bunkers to enhance the visual appearance and flash the sand faces up closer to the greens. This is similar to the work that was carried out on holes one to 18 in 2010. New fairway lines and enhanced landscaping will better the overall playability and conditions of the course.

Andrew Whittaker says, “The overall goal of the refurbishment was not to entirely modify the course, but to raise the quality of each hole. So far the changes that have been made look fantastic.”

Four new bunkers have been added to the course to present increased hazards and variety to test both beginner and seasoned golfers. These bunkers have been built on holes 22, 23, 24 and 27, at both greensides and in fairways to challenge and give variety to the holes.

Three new tees have been added to holes 20, 22 and 26 to add a further 76 yards to the overall length of the course, giving a new total of 3341 yards. Built to provide increased length to the golf course, the new tees offer experienced golfers with additional challenges.
