Hot Rod back on form

Yas Marina Circuit’s ‘Hot Rod’ Fuller put in his best performance of the season at the Bandimere Speedway this weekend as he blazed into the semi-finals of the 32nd annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals in Morrison, Colorado.

The weekend’s racing started well and the Yas Marina Circuit Top Fuel Dragster was spitting flames as Fuller comfortably saw off his early opponents, taking the Abu Dhabi-based team into the semi-finals for the first time this season.

In a closely fought duel with seven-time NHRA Top Fuel Champion, Tony Schumacher, Fuller lost the semi-final round by a mere 0.017 seconds, with a time of 4.032 ET and 296.70mph, against the US Army driver’s 4.015 ET and 308.70mph.

“I was very proud of everyone this weekend,” said Fuller after the race. “We didn’t luck our way into the semis, we really earned it. For it to be only our third race of the year, we are doing well.”
