Abu Dhabi quartet lead the pack

football-tableAs the second half of the UFL season picks up pace, the four teams from Abu Dhabi continue to maintain their stranglehold at the top of the table.

It took an 87th minute goal from Ebrahim Diaky to preserve Al Jazira’s unbeaten record as they drew 2-2 at home to Al Dhafra. The season-long league leaders hold on to the No 1 spot but their lead over second place Al Wahda, who have a game in hand, has narrowed to three points after Wahda beat Al Ahli 2-1 at the Rashed Stadium in Dubai. Top scorer Fernando Baiano and fellow Brazilian Pinga grabbed the goals for Al Wahda.

Elsewhere in the league, Bani Yas defeated Sharjah 1-0 thanks to a 27th minute penalty from Senegalese striker Andre Senghor, while Al Ain heaped yet more humiliation on Dubai-based Al Ahli as they romped to a 5-0 victory. Jose Sand (2), Abdullah Malallah (2) and Helal Saeed were on target.
