City back on track
Manchester City returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over struggling Portsmouth. Emmanuel Adebayour scored for the first time since returning from the African Nations Cup, and Vincent Kompany secured the points with a powerful header from a corner. The result takes the Blues back into sixth spot, level on points with Liverpool and one behind Spurs but with two games in hand over both their rivals.

UAE to host world Twenty20 qualifiers
A golden opportunity to face the likes of England, India, the West Indies and South Africa at one of cricket’s biggest events will be on offer to the eight sides that participate in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers. The tournament is being held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from 9th to 13th February; the top two sides qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 2010, due to take place in the West Indies between 30th April and 16th May. A total of 17 games will be played over five days with Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium hosting six group stage matches and Dubai International Cricket Stadium staging 11 matches, including the final. Admission for spectators to all the matches in the tournament is free of charge.

Top show jumpers come to Abu Dhabi
Some of the world’s top show jumpers will take part in the President of the UAE Show Jumping Cup from 3rd to 6th February at the spectacular Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club. Reigning world champion, Belgian Jos Lansink, will be among them. Abu Dhabi will become the first venue outside of Europe and the Americas to host the event, which is organised by the Emirates Equestrian Foundation and part of the prestigious FEI Nations Cup Series. It is also one of the richest among the grand prix events with prize money of AED 2.5 million on offer. Entry is free for spectators; the Nations Cup will be staged on Friday and the President of the UAE Cup Grand Prix will be the main event on Saturday.
