Ahoy! One of the year’s biggest sailing events, the Abu Dhabi Open Regatta 2012 will be hosted by the Abu Dhabi Sailing & Yacht Club from 11th to 13th October. The regatta will be the second round of the UAE National Sailing Championships and will take place along the Corniche and coastal waters near Lulu Island.
The Championship is being held over eight rounds in various locations across the UAE.
The regatta will be organised according to the standards of the International Sailing Federation and will feature some big local- and internationally-renowned racers.
The race is set to follow the excitement of last week’s season opener, when Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club team’s and UAE London 2012 Olympian, Adil Khalid powered to victory in hot and humid conditions
in Fujairah.
This weekend’s regatta will consist of eight races, with four held for various boat categories on each day, and will be monitored by a team of international race officers and judges. The sailor with the best overall results will be the regatta champion while all other participants will have the opportunity to earn points and climb the leaderboard.
Teams from across the country will be participating and include Emirates Heritage Club, Abu Dhabi Sailing Club and the Abu Dhabi Sailing & Yacht Club. For more information visit: www.adsyc.ae
