Abu Dhabi Week readers deserve a ‘round of paws’, after meeting the call to support a financially strapped animal rescue organisation.

Three families came forward offering to foster cats, and residents have already pledged approximately AED 5,000 to keep Sandy Paws, a rescue and rehabilitation group for stray cats, up and running.

With another AED 5,000 pending to keep the organisation afloat and pay overdue vet bills, readers are urged to get in touch to donate or re-home stray cats.

When speaking about the generous support, Jackie Covill, founder of Sandy Paws said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has shown Sandy Paws support, given donations of money and time, and who have opened their homes and hearts to the stray cats of Abu Dhabi. These animals deserve a great life after the bad start they have had and as a community we can all work together to help more unfortunate animals.

“Sandy Paws need continued support until people stop abandoning their pets when they leave the country. We particularly need people who will take on nursing mums and litters of kittens to get them off the streets and into safety until we can re-home them,” Covill added.

If you are interested in offering a cat or kitten a home, go along to the Adoption Day, taking place on Saturday 9th November from 2pm to 4pm at the German Veterinary Clinic in Khalifa City A. For more information call: 02 556 2024 or visit: www.germanvet.ae.
