Bolivian artist heads to the capital

Renowned Bolivian artist, Roberto Mamani Mamani, is the latest painter to showcase his works to the capital’s residents.

The self-taught painter, who is considered one of Bolivia’s most well known artists, is famed for creating original pieces that are born from his visions and emotions towards his native people.

Mamani’s work is characterised by bold colours, shapes and characters that each embody a part of his culture. The vibrant designs represent characters, Andean geography, plants, animals, rituals and dances, all of which reflect Bolivia’s identity.

Inspired by the energy of the Andes and mythical Pachamama (Mother Earth), Mamani has created over 3,000 pictures, the majority of which are watercolor paintings that use resins made by Mamani himself.

Mamani’s ‘Portraits’ exhibition is hosted by Artissima Art Gallery, the owners of which were inspired by their travels and now seek to bring artists from the US, Mexico, South America, Europe and Asia to the UAE.

“We are delighted to host a celebrated artist like Roberto in UAE and hope we can provide him with the perfect platform to showcase his work to the UAE audience,” said Aurela Cuku, Managing Partner, Artissima Gallery.

‘Portraits’ by Roberto Mamani Mamani will be on display until 23rd April at Dusit Thani Hotel.
