All aboard for culture

Hambantota, Sri Lanka :: Many people wait in line to board Logos Hope.

It’s full steam ahead for charity ship Logos Hope, which is on a mission to promote international understanding and worldwide education. Currently docked in the capital’s Mina Port, the ship will be hosting a special cultural café on Thursday 7th and 14th November for residents.

Home to over fifty different nationalities, the crew that makes up the boat will be opening its doors to guests aged 14 years and older to learn more about diversity. The two-hour programme starting at 7pm will feature ethnic dances, traditional music, refreshments and more. Tickets are AED 30 and are available to purchase on location.

“I’ve heard Abu Dhabi is home to a lot of unique cultures from different countries. The ship is the perfect idea to meet other cultures and people from various countries on the ship. We would like to offer this unique opportunity to guests, onboard the ship Logos Hope,” said Eunji Lee, project co-ordinator.

Currently docked in the capital, the former passenger ferry is owned and operated by non-profit organisation GBA Ships, and sails around the world to help communities in need. The boat funds its daily operations and charity projects through a floating book fair at port of calls around the globe. Avid readers will be pleased to learn that currently over 5,000 titles will be on sale onboard.

The boat will be docked in the Mina Zayed area, near the Iranian Market, until 24th November and is open to the general public everyday from 2pm to 10pm. Wednesdays will also feature a women’s only morning from 9am to 12pm. For more information visit:       www.gbaships.org
