The UAE is now the leader of the Group A after beating Taiwan 2-1 in a hot match last Thursday in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Challenge Cup of Asia, running in Taiwan from March 29 to April 4.

The UAE national ice hockey team's hopes for keeping the cup in Abu Dhabi for a second year in a row are now even greater. In 2009, the UAE team won the 2nd Asian Ice Hockey Championship which was hosted in Abu Dhabi.

Ten countries are taking part in the championship this year. Malaysia are in Group B with Kuwait, Singapore, Thailand and Macau while defending champions UAE are in Group A with Hong Kong, India, Mongolia and Taiwan.
