Egyptian singing legend Hakim is set to headline this year’s World Music Arts and Dance Festival - Abu Dhabi (WOMAD), taking place 22nd – 24th April 2010.

Hakim, who is known as “the king of Jeel,” will be joined by an eclectic musical mix, including Mongolian folk music group Hanggai, Palestine ensemble Le Trio Joubran, French musicians Babylon Circus, Pakistani singer Faiz Ali Faiz, and dozens of other international acts.

WOMAD was founded in 1980 by former Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel, with the inaugural event being held in 1982 in the UK. Since that time, WOMAD has featured over 1,000 artists and staged more than 160 festivals in 27 countries including Australia, the USA, New Zealand, Singapore and Sicily.
