Trio of class acts set to open soon

Three new schools will open in Abu Dhabi in time for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The schools, two British and one American, will begin classes in three ex-government school buildings, adding 2,340 more places for pupils in the capital.

Gems Winchester School will open in the old government school Al Mutanabi, with capacity for 900 students. The International Community School Branch One will open in the Ajnadeen School with capacity for 720 students and the Summit International School will open in the old Abdulla Bin Otaiba School with capacity for 720 pupils.

“These schools will give the priority for registering students from villa schools that have closed recently and will help us accomplish long-term priorities; increasing availability in seating, managing the growing number of school students in private schools, and maintaining quality education,” said Hamad Al Dhaheri, executive director for ADEC’s Private Schools and Quality Assurance Sector.
