FIA Vice-President and ATCUAE president Mohammed Ben Sulayem will attend the FIA World Motorsport Council meeting in Singapore later this month

Ben Sulayem said of the meeting, “I am delighted that the meeting is taking place in Asia. We have seen through the growth in the last ten years that Asia is the future of world motorsport, and I look forward to soon being able to host the annual FIA General Assembly meeting in Asia for the first time in the near future.”

The important meeting will give the World Motorsport Council the opportunity to discuss important issues, such as the calendar and regulations of all international race and rally series. Since 2006, there has been a 78% increase in the number of FIA registered championships, proving that the economic climate has not dampened peoples passion for motorsport. The meeting in Singapore will see the establishment of a working group whose purpose it will be to review and manage these championships, and ensure that they are always forward thinking and sustainable.

The World Motorsport Council meeting in Singapore follows a highly successful meeting chaired by Ben Sulayem in Beirut, Lebanon, of the ASNs from the new FIA Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region, and Ben Sulayem stated that he is “proud to represent these organisations on the world stage and assist them in developing both sport and road safety programmes across the MENA region”.
