On and off the pitch benefits for youngsters and parents as Manchester United Soccer Schools launches new season of football programmes

MUSS2

Youngsters looking forward to the second season of Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) in Abu Dhabi will be inspired by the new generation of stars taking the English Premiership by storm at Old Trafford.

Details of the 30-week MUSS schedule for 2011-12 were announced today, with themes reflecting the dynamic styles seen from players like Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in United’s brilliant start to the 2011-12 Premiership campaign.

Those enrolling for the football programmes taking place at the Dome@Rawdhat starting on 1st October 2011 will learn to pass and move, dribble and dominate, and attack with flair the United way – qualities which have shone through in the new-look Premiership champions’ flying start to the season.

“Everyone who follows the Premiership will have been impressed with the quality of United’s football, and especially the contribution of the new generation of players now emerging at Old Trafford,” said Andy Dixon, head coach at MUSS in Abu Dhabi.

“They are the club’s future, and our second season of football programmes in Abu Dhabi is based on the coaching methods which have helped them develop their skills and techniques, and fit quickly into the team with such great effect.”

And as the summer transfer window closes, the MUSS team in Abu Dhabi has announced a new squad member.  Craig Taylor has been appointed one of the new permanent coaches drafted in from the UK to deliver the MUSS programme in the UAE capital.

MUSS1

With a BSc in Sports Development from the University of East London, Taylor joined MUSS in February 2010 from his previous role as the Education Tutor at Charlton Athletic Community Trust.

More than 800 seven to 16-year-olds took part in the first season of football programmes run by MUSS following its launch in the UAE capital in October 2010 after the signing of a partnership agreement with Reem Investments.

The second series gets under way with the first of three ten-week courses, ‘Learn to pass and move the United way’, running from 1st October to 15th December 2011.   Module two – ‘Learn to dribble and dominate the United way’ – runs from 7th January to 22nd March 2012, and Module three – ‘Learn to attack with flair the United way’ – from 7th April to 22nd June 2012.

Youngsters enrolling could win a chance to display their skills on a world stage at Old Trafford next year, with all players taking part in any of the programmes automatically being entered in the MUSS series of skills challenges.

Leading point scorers will win an all-expenses paid trip to England to represent Abu Dhabi in the 2012 World Skills Final, with a chance to play at Old Trafford before a Premiership game.

Cost of enrolment is AED 1,650 for one module, with discounts for those enrolling for two modules (AED 2,700) and three modules (AED 3,698).

The cost includes: an exclusive Soccer Schools Nike Training kit (shirt, socks, shorts), exclusive MUSS giveaway pack, full 10-week coaching programme with 12 ½ hours of on- field coaching, access to catch- up sessions and individual player evaluation.

Increasing the appeal to families, a special parents coaching session is included in each of the individual packages.  Youngsters also learn a great deal more than how to become better footballers in the MUSS international “classroom”, as programmes help them develop a healthy lifestyle, and learn social skills which can be put to good use on and off the field.

All young players, regardless of ability, will take part in a series of fun and challenging coaching sessions following the latest MUSS curriculum.  To learn more about Manchester United Soccer Schools in Abu Dhabi visit www.manutdsoccerschools.ae or call 02 449 8480.
