Youngsters looking to have a ball in the capital and meet their tennis heroes will be able to head down to the specially designated ‘Kids Day’ at the annual Mubadala World Tennis Championship.
Hosted on day one of the tournament, which is to take place from 26th to 28th December at Zayed Sports City, the festivities will see the Tennis Village awash with kid-friendly activities to encourage children to take up the sport and get active. Beginning at 2pm on 26th December, children can get in on the action with special activity stations, games and great prizes on offer.
Superstars of the court will also be making an appearance at the Tennis Village with crowd favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga making his debut at 3pm. Sitting in the hot seat, Tsonga will meet with young fans and answer questions during the Kids Question Time.
“I’ve played in Abu Dhabi twice now and one of the things I enjoy the most about the tournament is the time we get to spend off the court too,” said the French superstar. “Interacting and hitting balls with youngsters is not something we have time to do in every city we visit. The tournament does a great job in inspiring young people to take up tennis and live an active lifestyle, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that during Kids Day this year.”
After volleying back and forth with mini-reporters, the world No. 10 will take to centre court for the second match of the tournament. He’ll then go head-to-head with world No. 4 Andy Murray, with the winner of the match competing against world No.2 Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.
Djokovic and world No.1 Rafael Nadal will also be making an appearance during Kids Day, participating in autograph sessions in the Tennis Village from 3.45pm.
