The match schedule for the FIFA Club World Cup 2009 was confirmed at the Official Draw last week.
Sir Bobby Charlton, Manchester United and England legend, made a special appearance on behalf of the current club world champions for the handover of the official trophy to FIFA; he was then joined on stage by UAE national team star Ismail Matar for the draw.

Seven teams are taking part, the winners of Fifa’s regional federation tournaments. As a result the draw is inherently confusing – the competition opens with what is effectively a play-off between the UAE’s Al Ahli and Auckland City from New Zealand. The winner will play Mexico’s Atlante FC in the next round, at which stage the Congolese team TP Mazembe plays Pohang Steelers from South Korea. Barcelona and the Argentinean team Estudiantes come into the tournament at the semi-final stage.

The final will take place on 19th December at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.
