Philippine Azkals set to battle UAE

FILIPINO football fans in Abu Dhabi scored big this week after the Philippines national football team revealed they are set to face the United Arab Emirates team this weekend.

Ranked 137th in the world the Azkals will have to be on top of their game if they are to compete with the UAE, who are ranked 50 places above them, when they clash at Zayed Sports City Stadium on Saturday 9th November.

The game, which starts at 6.30pm, is not included among FIFA’s friendly match dates, which means star players such as Stephan Schrock, Neil Etheridge and Dennis Cagara won’t be able to join the Azkals for the game against the 87th-ranked UAE.

However, the core of the national squad that recently retained the Peace Cup will remain intact for the game, which is free to attend. Chieffy Caligdong, Angel Guirado, Jason de Jong, Rob Gier and the Younghusband brothers have all been called up for the friendly.
