Children in Gambia have received a helping hand from The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA).

The local organisation helped distribute 15,000 items of clothing to underprivileged children in the West African country. The humanitarian act is part of an initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to clothe needy children around the world, helping to improve their living conditions.

Companies from across Abu Dhabi such as Etisalat, DAMAC, LuLu Hypermarket and Emirates NBD, donated funds to Red Crescent, allowing the organisation to purchase clothing within Gambia before its distribution to those who needed it most.

“Since July 2013, The RCA is continuing efforts to implement the initiative in other countries like Kenya, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Singapore, Madagascar, Laos and many more countries across Africa, Asia and South America,” said Amr Abdelhamid, from the RCA’s Relief and Emergency Department.
