Abu Dhabi photographers are set to display their work in the capital

Photography lovers are in for a treat as a group of passionate shutterbugs is about to showcase their work at Café Arabia.

The free ‘Quintessence’ exhibition will feature images captured by 15 members of the Abu Dhabi-based association Wednesday Group International Photographers.

Quintessence is a Latin word that in ancient times described a so-called fifth element, and this ethereal dimension is what these shots are trying to capture.

The group, which was founded in 2009, seeks to share images and ideas among likeminded people.

Karissa Lewes, a member of the group, says, “Our members join for a variety of reasons. Some wish to learn, some want to share their work, others want company when they go out shooting. Our meetings are generally based on someone presenting a topic to the rest of the group so we can all learn something new.”

The group meets every other Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. Want to join? The next meeting is 5th March. To sign up email: [email protected]

‘Quintessence’ opens Sunday 1st March at 7pm with a reception, and the photographs will stay on display until 14th March.
