Stepping out in style

Who is your fashion icon, and how do you define your style? We visit Yas Mall to find out

Janice from the UK says,
“I like bright colours and prints. I always go for key pieces that grab people’s attention and stand out in a crowd… like what I’m wearing right now. My clothes are a mixture of different brands like Zara, H&M and Harvey Nichols. I also buy a lot of pieces online.”

Rajaa is from Lebanon. She says,
“My clothes are a blend of sporty and chic from different shops. Right now I’m wearing Prada glasses and a dress by an independent urban designer from Via Rodeo and I’m carrying a Gucci bag. I like to create my own style, instead of following someone else’s. Anything new interests me.”

Jean from Lebanon says,
“I dress smartly at work and for formal dinners. But in my spare time I go for sportswear, usually jeans with polo shirts from Ralph Lauren or Lacoste. I buy my clothes from different places. If I pass a shop and find something interesting, I buy it.”

Moroccan-Lebanese Samar says,
“I like outfits that are chic and well put together but not too formal. Topshop and Zara are a must for everyday outfits. I usually go for Pinko for a more sophisticated look. My style icon is Beyoncé – I absolutely love how edgy her clothes are. She dresses in a way I’d never be able to copy.”

Laura from Scotland says,
“I usually go for classy with a twist – something different and unique. My office wardrobe is completely different from my weekend wardrobe. At work, I never wear trousers. I wear more cotton than silk on weekends as it’s comfier. I love Reiss, which has several stores in Abu Dhabi including in Marina Mall and Yas Mall. I wear simple jewellery; LK Bennett, which opened its first store in Abu Dhabi in Marina Mall, always works for me.”

Matteo from Italy says,
“Most of the time I dress casually. When time calls for formality, I dress up elegantly, but with a hint of casualness. I never go for suits and ties, just shirts. I love the style of Hollister Co; that is what I’m wearing today. My role model is David Beckham; I think his style is elegant and smart.”

Italian-American Rose-Helen says,
“I’d say my style is very Italian – feminine and edgy, with a hint of charm. I work in fashion design, so I shop from local UAE designers such as Lami Haute Couture and Mounay. They’re very unique. My style icon is an Italian actress called Sophia Loren. She’s always feminine and classy.”
