Residents show compassion with recycling campaign

An annual recycling campaign organised by Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (Adnec) is returning this February.

As part of the Stop and Drop campaign, residents can donate second-hand items and recyclable waste materials such as empty plastic bottles or cardboard boxes between Monday 2nd February and Thursday 5th February.

Residents are encouraged to donate items that are in good condition, such as books, clothing and footwear as well as electronics that work. The donations will be given to UAE Red Crescent in support of its Show Compassion campaign. The charitable campaign, also known as ‘tarahamo’ – meaning ‘have mercy’ in Arabic – is helping thousands of Syrian refugees based in temporary camps in Jordan during the winter.

The Stop and Drop campaign, which started in 2012, is held two to three times a year. During the February edition, residents can leave their items at one of four drop off points in Adnec between 8am and 6pm at car park A, level one and level four, or car park B, level one and level two.

You can also donate waste materials such as newspapers and magazines, aluminium cans, cardboard and plastic that will be recycled as part of Adnec’s ongoing efforts to support sustainability in the capital.
